About this project

The Her Dignity Initiative is a girl-child empowerment initiative working to help girls in Nigeria access the resources, support and opportunities they need to learn, grow and fulfil their potential.

Ready for School is a back-to-school support project to help 20 girls begin or resume school with essential learning items. Each selected girl will receive a school bag, school shoes, a school uniform and basic textbooks.

The aim is simple: reduce some of the immediate costs associated with returning to school, and help girls start the school year better equipped.

A note on figures. Funds are raised in euros and items are bought in Nigeria in naira. The kit is budgeted at ₦125,000 (bag, shoes and uniform at ₦25,000 each, textbooks at ₦50,000), which is about €83. Euro amounts are indicative; what a euro buys depends on the exchange rate, transfer charges and purchasing costs when funds are converted, and any difference will be reported to supporters.

Our approach

From identifying girls to handing over kits, every step is designed around fairness, accuracy and dignity.
  1. 01

    Identify

Work with appropriate local school or community contacts to identify girls who would benefit.

  2. 02

    Confirm

Confirm school requirements, sizes, textbook titles and quantities before anything is purchased.

  3. 03

    Purchase & record

Obtain and retain supplier quotations and purchase records wherever they are available.

  4. 04

    Distribute with dignity

Hand over kits respectfully, protecting each girl's privacy and dignity throughout.

  5. 05

    Record & report

Record items purchased and distributed, expenditure and beneficiary numbers, while avoiding unnecessary personal data.

Who will benefit?

Beneficiaries will be identified in consultation with relevant schools or community contacts. Priority will be given to girls whose families may have difficulty meeting the costs of essential school materials.

The selection process will be handled respectfully, fairly and with consideration for the privacy of each girl.

How we will account for your support

At the end of the project, supporters will receive a report outlining the funds received, how the money was spent, the items purchased, the number of girls supported and any relevant updates.

Where available, it will include supplier receipts, invoices, payment confirmations and photographs of the school materials and distribution, always respecting the privacy and dignity of the girls involved.

If any funds remain unspent, or if costs differ from the original estimates, we will tell you clearly.

Your report, within about 30 days of distribution, will include:

01

Funds received

Total contributions received for the project.

02

Expenditure breakdown

Amount spent on bags, shoes, uniforms and textbooks.

03
